United Way Panamá continúa promocionando su campaña “Una Gran Historia”, que tiene como objetivo recopilar testimonios de voluntarios panameños para publicarlos en un libro el 5 de Diciembre de este año, en conmemoración del Día Internacional del Voluntario. United Way Panamá busca con esta campaña, posicionar el voluntariado como un tema relevante y trascendental para el desarrollo del país captando así, testimonios de servicio, humildad, calidad humana, responsabilidad y respeto que liderizan los miles de voluntarios en Panamá.

Si desea compartir su historia, visite www.facebook.com/unitedwaypanama, dele LIKE a nuestra página, y justo debajo de nuestra foto encontrará un ícono que dice “Una Gran Historia”. Presione allí y podrá redactar su historia, al terminar presione “Submit”. Si desea participar y no tiene una cuenta en Facebook, puede enviar su testimonio acompañado de fotos a info@fondounidodepanama.org .Cuéntenos sobre una experiencia en donde usted participó como voluntario en alguna obra de servicio social.  Recuerde que no se necesita ser un gran escritor para escribir “Una Gran Historia”.

Campaign “Una Gran Historia” gives importance to volunteer work

United Way Panamá wants to position volunteering as an influential and important factor in the development of this country. The campaign “Una Gran Historia” (A Great Story) intends to collect testimonies of volunteers in Panama. In commemoration of the International Volunteer Day on December 5^th, the testimonies will be published on a book that highlights the important labor that volunteers do.

Click there and automatically you can start to write your story. When you are finished, press Submit. Firma de Convenio entre Ciudad del Niño y United Way Panamá

Panamá, 19 de Abril de 2012. United Way Panamá firmó un convenio con la Ciudad del Niño para impulsar el programa “Mejorando la Calidad de Educación” con la finalidad de mejorar el rendimiento académico y elevar el nivel de aprendizaje en la etapa primaria, para disminuir la repitencia escolar en Chorrera. United Way Panamá brindará apoyo económico para aportar el recurso humano y tecnológico suficiente para los 200 beneficiaros de la Ciudad del Niño de los cuales 40 son estudiantes con necesidades educativas especiales. Los beneficiarios obtendrán apoyo educativo mediante tutorías después de clase en materias de bajo rendimiento como Inglés y Matemáticas, se impartirán talleres vocacionales para los jóvenes, talleres sobre técnicas de estudio para los docentes y tutores del centro y se capacitará el salón de cómputo y la biblioteca de la Ciudad del Niño.

United Way Panamá funds project to benefit Ciudad del Niño

Panama, April 19^th 2012. United Way Panamá funds project “Improving the Quality of Education” to benefit the 200 children that reside in Ciudad del Niño. This project will improve the academic performance of the children and diminish the high rates of grade repetition in Chorrera. United Way Panamá will sponsor the human and technological resources needed to manage the children, 40 of which have special education needs. The teachers and tutors of the center will be trained on the latest studying techniques. The children will receive tutoring in English and Mathematics, vocational workshops and new equipment for their library and computer lab.

Iniciaron las clases en el Parvulario San Pedro Nolasco a principios de marzo. La encargada del plantel, Amarilis Tuñón indicó que 68 niños están inscritos para este año escolar y que se mantiene un buen registro de asistencia. El año pasado, United Way Panamá invirtió en la construcción y equipamiento de 3 aulas de clases para atender a 150 niños y niñas entre 2-5 años de edad. La construcción de las aulas de clase inició en Diciembre de 2011 y la inauguración está prevista para Mayo de 2012. Luego de la inauguración, los 2 salones que se están utilizando para dar clases en la actualidad, pasarán a ser un comedor y un salón de tutoría.

Classes start in San Pedro Nolasco’s Nursery in Burunga

At the beginning of March, classes started in San Pedro Nolasco’s Nursery. The nursery’s principal Amarilis Tuñón indicated that 68 kids were registered to attend the nursery this year and the attendance record has been good. Last year, United Way Panama invested in the construction of 3 classrooms to benefit 150 children between the ages of 2 and 5. The construction started in December 2011 and it is foreseen that they will be ready by May of 2012. After the inauguration, the 2 classrooms that are being used right now to teach in will be remodeled into a cafeteria and a tutoring area.

United Way Panamá realizó una inversión de $45,000 dólares para la construcción del salón de Danza y Cultura del Centro de Atención Integral Barraza de Movimiento Nueva Generación. United Way Panamá se enorgullece de poderle dar la oportunidad a los niños de desarrollar talentos en arte y danza escénica, en un ambiente saludable y divertido para asistir al culminar las clases. El centro atenderá aproximadamente a 300 niños de la comunidad de Barraza en el Chorrillo y contará con 5 salones incluyendo: pre-escolar, comedor, cómputo, tutoría, danza y un parque en el área frontal del centro. La construcción de este centro comenzó a mediados del 2011 y se tiene programado su inauguración para julio de este año 2012.

United Way Panamá sponsors Dance and Cultural space in Movimiento Nueva Generación’s Integral Attention Center in Barraza

United Way Panamá invested $45,000 dollars in the construction of the Dance and Cultural classroom in Movimiento Nueva Generación’s Integral Attention Center in Barraza. United Way Panamá is proud of being able to provide a safe after-school environment for kids to develop cultural, arts and dance skills. The center will host 300 kids of Barraza’s community in el Chorrillo. It will have 5 classrooms including a nursery, cafeteria, computer room, tutoring room, arts and dance room and a park. The center has been in construction since 2011 but the inauguration is foreseen for July of this year.

Voluntarios del Departamento de Mercados en Desarrollo de América Latina (LADMAR) de Procter & Gamble, acompañaron a United Way Panamá a la visita al Parvulario Jesús Pan y Vida. Los voluntarios pasaron una amena mañana organizando juegos didácticos con los niños que asisten al Parvulario y ofreciendo talleres educativos para madres. En el mes de enero, LADMAR hizo una donación significativa de insumos a San José Malambo, Hogar Divino Niño y Parvulario de Jesús Pan y Vida. Los productos se entregaron mediante visitas individuales a San José Malabo en Enero y Hogar Divino Niño en Febrero. En esta ocasión, los voluntarios tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer la última entrega de los productos donados. Dentro de los productos donados se encuentran Gain, Downy, Tide, Ivory, Pampers, Pampers wipes, Tampax, Cascade, y Bounce.

P&G volunteers visit Nursery Jesús Pan y Vida in Cativá

Volunteers of Procter & Gamble´s Latin American Developing Markets department (LADMAR), visited the Nursery Jesús Pan y Vida in Cativá. The volunteers had a great time playing educational games with the children that attend the nursery and organizing workshops for the mothers. On January, LADMAR made a substantial donation of products to three organizations United Way Panamá works with: San José Malambo, Hogar Divino Niño and Nursery Jesús Pan y Vida. These products were distributed during individual visits to San José Malambo in January and Hogar Divino Niño in February. While in the Nursery Jesús Pan y Vida, the volunteers participated in giving out to the mothers the third and last share of donated goods. Gain, Downy, Tide, Ivory, Pampers, Pampers wipes, Tampax, Cascade, and Bounce were among the donated goods.
