Para fortalecer el movimiento voluntario en el país, el pasado 5 de Diciembre Organizaciones No Gubernamentales y Empresas Privadas se unieron para Conmemorar el Día Internacional del Voluntario.
La conmemoración inició con el mensaje del Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas, Ban Ki moon, quien felicitó a todos los que cada año trabajan como voluntarios en beneficio de sus comunidades.
Stanley Muschett, Rector de Laureate Panamá, hizo la presentación a la empresa privada de dos estudios inéditos en Panamá, el estudio de Gerencia de ONG y la Primera Encuesta Nacional de Voluntariado.
De acuerdo a la encuesta nacional de voluntariado, el 80% de la población en Panamá, sea o no voluntaria considera que el país necesita una ley de voluntariado.
Dacil Acevedo, Directora por América Latina de la International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), presentó la iniciativa del Anteproyecto de Ley de Voluntariado de Panamá, el cual se estará discutiendo en la Asamblea de Diputados en la primera semana de sesiones ordinarias.
De igual forma, se aprovechó la oportunidad para dar un reconocimiento especial a Don Federico Humbert por su colaboración al voluntariado en Panamá.
El acto de conmemoración concluyó con el anuncio de que la Ciudad del Saber será la sede el próximo año del Día Internacional del Voluntario 2013.
Una vez terminada la celebración, se invitó a los presentes a pasar a la Feria de Voluntariado “Ponte En Algo”, donde más de 60 organizaciones sin fines de lucro tuvieron la oportunidad de exponer el trabajo que realizan sus organizaciones.
Este evento fue posible fue posible gracias al patrocinio de United Way Panamá, Alcance Positivo (USAID) y ACP con el apoyo de Voluntarios de Panamá, Stratego, Banco General, La Asociación Internacional de Esfuerzo Voluntario (IAVE), MEDCOM, la Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá y Morgan & Morgan.
Private Sector and Non Profit Organizations come together to celebrate the International Volunteer Day.
On December 5th, the Private Sector and more than 60 Non Profit Organizations came together to celebrate the International Volunteer Day. The commemoration started off with a message from Ban Ki Moon, United Nations Secretary General, who congratulated all volunteers that benefit their communities each year.
Stanley Muschett, Rector of Laureate-Panama, presented two studies of great significance to the non-profit and private sector, the First National Volunteerism Survey and the First Non-Profit Management Study.
Dacil Acevedo, Latin American Director of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), presented the draft of a Law on Volunteerism in Panama, which will be discussed in the Deputies’ Assembly early next year.
Similarly, Mr. Federico Humbert was given a special recognition for successfully incorporating volunteerism and philanthropy into his company culture.
The event concluded with the announcement that the City of Knowledge will host the International Volunteer Day 2013.
Afterwards, the audience was invited to attend the Fair «Ponte En Algo», where more than 60 nonprofit organizations were given the opportunity to present the work they do.
