La unidad de negocios de Procter & Gamble, Fabric Care, inauguró en días pasados, el CEFACEI (Centro Familiar y Comunitario de Educación Inicial) “Niños Felices” ubicado en Tocumen. Dentro de las mejoras de infraestructura se lograron rehacer los baños para niños y niñas, remodelar las puertas y ventanas, mejorar el sistema de ventilación mediante la colocación de abanicos de techo, retocar la pintura del Centro, arreglar el cableado eléctrico, expandir el techo, cambiar el piso de cemento a mosaicos y ampliar el salón de clases. La unidad tiene previsto ejecutar las mejoras de inmobiliario el año entrante. “Niños Felices”, que atiende 45 niños y niñas diariamente, es uno de los prescolares piloto del programa insignia de United Way Panamá, “Nacer Aprendiendo”. Este programa ofrece calidad de educación y estimula el desarrollo en infantes entre los 0-6 años de edad. Los niños fueron evaluados en habilidades mentales, conceptuales, perceptivas y lingüísticas antes de la aplicación del programa. A fin de año se les volverá a evaluar en estas mismas categorías con el fin de medir la efectividad del programa.
Por pertenecer a “Nacer Aprendiendo”, las promotoras de “Niños Felices” serán capacitadas en las últimas metodologías de enseñanza en temas tales como matemáticas, lectoescritura y gráfico-plástico en la segunda fase del programa.
Cabe recalcar que Procter & Gamble aportó un importante capital semilla para impulsar “Nacer Aprendiendo” en Panamá.
Fabric Care inaugurated CEFACEI «Niños Felices»
Procter & Gamble’s business unit, Fabric Care, recently inaugurated, the CEFACEI (Early Childhood Education Family and Community Center) «Niños Felices» located in Tocumen. The unit sponsored significant infrastructure improvements such as installing new windows and doors, remodeling the bathrooms of both girls and boys, improving the ventilation system by placing ceiling fans, fixing the electrical wiring, painting the preeschool, extending roof, changing the cement floor for tiles, expanding the classroom’s size among others. The unit is planning on refurnishing the preschool next year. «Niños Felices», which attends 45 children daily, is one of the pilot preschools in which United Way Panama’s flagship program «Born Learning» is being executed.
“Born Learning” offers quality education and encourages the development in infants between 0-6 years of age. The children were already assessed in mental, conceptual, perceptual and language abilities before implementing the program. At the end of this year, the children will be reassessed in the same categories to measure the effectiveness of the program.
As part of the program, the teachers of «Niños Felices» will also be trained in the latest teaching methodologies in math, reading and writing during the second phase of the program.
Procter & Gamble provided a significant seed capital to implement «Born Learning» in Panama.
